This year the volleyball team planned to turn things around from the sub – par season that ended the 2104 campaign. Senior captains Jenna Kijauskas and Cassie Carlo were looking to lead the team to just that type of season. With a low turnout of upperclassmen returning, the team needed the underclassmen to “step up” this year. Multiple underclass starters included Paige Miller, Katie Toth, Peyton Mastrioanni, Ellie Jadrych, and Sydney Palivec.

While the team had a sub – .500 season, finishing with a 5 – 13 overall record, we did have a 1st Team all – CVC player in Cassie Carlo and two honorable mention all – CVC players in Nicole Insana and Sydney Palivec. When asked what it was like to earn 1st Team all-CVC Cassie said, “It was amazing! It was really awesome to know all the work I put in throughout the years paid off.”

When asked how this year was different than the previous season, head coach Mr. Chris Carlo said, “Offensively and defensively I truly believe we have become very diverse and competitive and now can run multiple defenses against different teams, which in this day and age of volleyball you have to do! You cannot be a ‘one style’ offense and defense or you will get eaten up alive. It is just a work in progress to teach the kids in a very short time a lot of new strategies that they have never learned before. Our record does not show it but we have improved as a program.”

When asked what was the highlight of the season, Cassie Carlo said, “The highlight of my season was probably senior night because we came together as a team to win our last home game against Orange.”
