Signed, Sealed, Delivered…I’m Yours

WG Senior Collects Autographs

A sample of Pete’s Collection

West Geauga senior Pete Roman has a very unique collection. While most kids collect baseball cards or stamps, Pete collects signatures from famous politicians. Pete has collected over 100 autographed pictures and signatures, ranging from George W. Bush to Ohio Governor John Kasich.

Pete has been doing this for a little under a year now. While one might think that securing a signature from high – ranking government officials would be difficult, you’d be wrong. All he does is send in a letter requesting a signature. Most of the politicians respond with a signed picture and a letter thanking Pete for showing an interest in politics.

The hardest autograph to get (and his favorite) was the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. Pete also has a smaller collection of signed professional athlete player cards. He has signed cards ranging from the NFL’s Josh Cribbs to former Cincinnati Reds catcher Johnny Bench. “I have pictures of US politicians, world leaders, and people who have made changes to their country.”

Social studies teacher Mr. John Boylan commented on his pictures saying, “When I was younger, I collected baseball cards. Not until I was older did I start to collect [the] political signs that you see in my room. It is a different thing and that is what makes it really cool. He has seventeen out of the twenty-two people [currently in 2015] running for president. That is amazing.”

In the future, Pete plans to enter the field of politics. He wants to enter politics because he believes that he can better the nation and the world. “Hard work and determination will always help you triumph over others.”
