The lacrosse team has had a “lukewarm” season so far, having played ten games. With a 5-5 record at present, it is already a major improvement upon last year’s record of 2-14.

Despite several players quitting this year, Nick Kalis, senior (and the coach’s son) said the team’s biggest strength lies in the numbers. “Having extra substitutes definitely gives us the edge over the competition,” he said. “We can keep players from being overworked and passing out on the field.”

The team, however, is lacking some of the sports technical skills, and this is what the boys are working hard on in practice to improve. During the preseason, the players were in very good physical shape, with endurance and agility. Kalis said, “We focused too much on fitness at the start of the year. Now we need to catch up and work on our stick skills if we want to win more games.”

The team is confident that they can have a winning season. Kalis said the most important ingredient for the year’s success is the ability of the goalie. He expects a lot of saves from senior Andrew Todaro and hopes the offensive line can perform to its potential, also.
