A Mid-Winter Night’s Dream for this Puck

Hockey Season Wraps Up

Hockey Seniors and Parents

The West Geauga Hockey team was a force to be reckoned with this season. With a solid defensive line and some major speed up top, the team was able to get the job done more times than not. This year, the team acquired some “imported” talent in two of the school’s foreign exchange students from Sweden. Felix Granat and William Hammerstrom were able to bring a unique style of play to this year’s team.

Finishing with an overall record of 23-8, one could say that the team had a very successful season. Captains John Sternen, Andrew Todaro, Michael Bielek, and Skyler Rossbach motivated the team throughout the year to always work hard on and off the ice.

All of their hard work eventually paid off when they made it to the championship game of the Baron Cup for the second year in a row. Despite a strong showing of talent and true grit, the team did not win the title of Baron Cup Champions.

The team did accomplish a pretty impressive task late in the season, winning their first state playoff game. Looking back on a season full of accomplishments, Coach Mr. Kurt Wells said, “This was a special year for many reasons, but the whole team showed up and worked hard every day for the successes they achieved.”

This year, there were four seniors who will be deeply missed for all that they brought to the team. Some of these boys had never played hockey before high school and it was truly amazing how much they learned and were able to contribute to the team. Seniors Brenden Judson, Andrew Todaro, Michael Bielek, and John Sternen will be deeply missed next year.

The team had a spectacular season and your school is proud to support such a talented group of young players. Job well done and we can’t wait to see you on the ice again next year!
