Food, Friends, Fans, Friendship…and FUNDS

2014 marked the 12th annual installment of the West Geauga football and wrestling raffle.

As it has been in years past, the raffle was a GREAT success. Running $60 for a single ticket and $95 for a couple, the raffle raised the incredible amount of $17,245 for the two teams ! “We were ecstatic!” said wrestling coach Joe Marino. The money, which was split 70/30, will go to hotels stays for overnight tournaments, uniforms, practice room improvements and other items to support the wrestling team, while the football players will pay fees for skill camps, clothing, and a donation to the team’s turf field project.

At the raffle, there were a wide variety of prizes, games and fund – raising options . Parents and coaches donate sports memorabilia, tickets to events and leaf blowers. Local professionals also donate their time and equipment, offering dental services, roofing supplies and labor. The football team also donates their time and labor to do yard work and jobs for people who “win” them.

Like any event, the players and coaches owe a ton of thanks to the committee, led by Mrs. Laurie Corbo and Mrs. Marie Hall, for all the countless hours they put in to make the night a rousing success ! Great job, everyone !
