Aj Vetturini and Charlie Drain hit the pre-match pose !

The wrestling team is continuing to battle throughout its 2013 – 2014 campaign.  The 2014 leg of the season is off to a great start with the early – injured wrestlers returning and contributing to the effort.  The boys return just in time to get a few tune – up matches in before the sectional meet, which marks the start of the postseason.

Head wrestling coach Mr. Joe Marino is ecstatic about the return of his leaders.  “We’re almost back. I love it when the line – up finally comes together!”

To date sophomore Joe Fornaro, still holds the best record at 32 – 10, wrestling at 170.  Charlie Drain is the only upperclassmen who has had a full season and he has had a great senior year so far, sporting a record of 26 – 15.  Since returning from their various injuries, David Eippert is 14 – 3 at 160, Rob Alcorn is 21 – 11 at 152, and junior AJ Vetturini clocks in at 10 – 5 at 138.

     Other regular varsity wrestlers include Ashton Peck at 106, with a record of 15 – 15, Chris Chambers at 120 (15 – 20 record), Mike Steigerwald (10 – 19),  Evan Vetturini at 126, with a record of 14 – 17, and Alec Moore at 182, with a record of 17- 11.

The team is currently 8 – 8 in dual meets and recently finished the CVC tournament where Fornaro finished 3rd, Drain & Eippert were 4th and Alcorn placed 5th

Hopefully varsity wrestlers Peck and Jack Makee at 195 should be back for the sectionals !
