WG Hockey Wins First League Crown Ever

     The West G. hockey team won the Baron Cup for the first time this year. The team won all three Baron Cup games, defeating Garfield Heights 13-0, Olmsted Falls 4-3, & Parma 6-0. The team also finished 10-0 in the league, their first undefeated season, making them Blue Division Champs. Brendon Judson finished the regular season as the best goalie in the league, also. The following is a list of individual player “stats” from the 24 regular season games:

–          M. Bielek played in 23 games, scoring five points (all assists).

–          B. Kelly played in all 24 games, scoring eight points (four goals and four assists).

–          J. Portman played in 23 games, scoring five points (one goal and four assists).

–          G. Solon played in 23 games, scoring three points (one goal and two assists).

–          A. Todaro played in 19, scoring eighteen points (three goals and fifteen assists).

–          B. Gruly played in all 24 games, scoring eleven points (one goal and ten assists).

–          D. Sternen played in 9 games, scoring four points (two goals and two assists).

–          J. Kern played in 17, scoring fifty-three points (twenty-six goals & twenty-seven assists).

–          T. Karlsson, an exchange student from Sweden, played in all 24 games, scoring ninety-seven points (seventy-one goals and twenty-six assists).

–          J. Sternen played in all 24 games, scoring twenty-eight points (seven goals and twenty-one assists).

–          K. Georgevitch played in 11 games, scoring twelve points (one goal and eleven assists).

–          S. Rossbach played in all 24 games, scoring sixty-nine points (thirty-nine goals and thirty assists).

–          T. Georgevitch played in 22 games, scoring forty-six points (twenty-one goals and twenty-five assists).

–          Z. Maguire played in all 24 games, scoring eleven points (all assists).

–          K. Sheets, a goalie, blocked 71 of the 87 shots taken, giving him a save percentage of 82%.

–          B. Judson, a goalie, blocked 296 of the 332 shots taken on him, giving him a save percentage of 89%.

      The team plays their first game in the state championships tournament series on February 12th versus Cleveland Heights, Their second game is February 15th versus Walsh if they win.
