Middle School and High School Welcome New Psychologist

Ms. Ashley Wilcox Joins the Wolverine Team

West Geauga High school has welcomed a new school psychologist this year, Ms. Ashley Wilcox. Ms. Wilcox works at both West Geauga Middle School and here at the high school.

Ms. Wilcox is a graduate of Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio.  She attended Walsh University for her undergraduate college degree and attended Kent State University for graduate school in the school psychology program. She was also a graduate assistant while attending Kent State . She worked in the College of Nursing and helped students with scheduling/getting through nursing school.

Having not worked in another field prior to going into education, Ms. Wilcox has been working for four years as a school psychologist, prior to coming to West Geauga. When asked what attracted her to education, she said, “I [want] to help students have a successful experience in school, both academically and emotionally.”

Ms. Wilcox’s goal for her students this year is that she wants all students to realize that everyone has strengths and weaknesses. She wants students to have a “growth mindset” and to be positive about life and learning. She is most excited for this school year, helping students to face challenges and to build that growth mindset. Something that she noticed about West G is that, “Parents and staff are very supportive of students.” She is enjoying being part of the team that helps students reach their full potential.

Outside of school, the Beachwood resident plays mom to a cat named Winnie and enjoys spending her time camping, boating, traveling, doing interior design when she can, as well as shopping and baking.

Fun fact… during graduate school, Ms. Wilcox went to China and saw the Great Wall.

Welcome aboard, Ms. Wilcox !
