Interact Club to the Rescue

West G Chapter of Interact is Working to Make a Difference

Join Interact in our efforts to provide relief to natural disaster victims!

Helping those in need is Rotary’s priority. Given the circumstances of recent hurricanes and other natural disasters, Interact has decided to partner with ShelterBox USA. ShelterBox is a Rotary organization that helps provide life-saving materials to disaster victims. ShelterBoxes are large kits that contain items like water purifiers, sleeping bags, and other useful materials. Each box costs approximately $1,000.00 and will be sent directly from Rotary to devastated areas. The West Geauga Interact club will be holding fundraisers to collect money for as many ShelterBoxes as possible. The money will go directly from the club to the ShelterBox organization, which will put together the box, and send it for us.

Hurricane Harvey recently tore through several states and affected at least four countries. As of September 4th, 2017, it caused 66 deaths. Thousands of people were affected by flooding and damage and still have no house to return to. Additionally, Hurricane Irma swept through the Atlantic islands and prompted mass evacuations from Florida’s coasts. ShelterBoxes can provide important resources to devastated areas. After the Haiti earthquake of 2010, Rotary sent tents to the affected area that are still used by people today.

Please consider joining our effort to provide ShelterBoxes for disaster victims this season. Interact has already agreed to partner with several other clubs throughout the West Geauga school district to compound our relief efforts, and we are hoping to collaborate with even more.
