Fresh faces this school year come in many different forms, and the brightest just might be our new media specialist—Ms. Sarah Thrasher. Ms. Thrasher arrives at the high school in her 12th year of teaching, the past two of which were spent at Westwood and Lindsey Elementary schools. The 10 prior to that were spent at Beachwood.

Here at West Geauga, Ms. Thrasher switches between the middle school and high school, working at the high school on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and every other Wednesday. She is at the middle school on the other days of the week. But don’t get her job description wrong ! She’s not just a regular librarian who does research and babysits books. “I specialize in technology integration, research, and ensuring students and staff  have access to the resources they need,” she said.

West Geauga, however, is not the only exciting part of her life—she has her own world outside of the library. Ms. Thrasher has two children, one girl and one boy, both currently attending Westwood Elementary School. “Attention babysitters!” she added. Ms. Thrasher enjoys cooking and exercising, along with going on hikes with her kids. In addition to her life here in education, she noted, “I have worked on and off as a server throughout my adult life.  One year I worked for the Browns as a suite attendant and had Lebron James’ suite.”

Ms. Thrasher has a diverse educational background behind her as well, earning her bachelor degree at Kent State University and her master degree at Ashland University. Her first teaching license is also interesting ! “Deaf Education,” she explains, “therefore, I am fluent in American Sign Language.”

Ask anyone who knows her, and s/he will tell you Ms. Thrasher loves her job. One glance at her proves this, and she explains, “I love that I work closely with both students and staff.  I also love being involved in all classes and content areas.”

We will certainly love working with Ms. Thrasher, and we hope she enjoys her time here at West Geauga High School ! Welcome to the Home of the Wolverines!
