All is FAIR in Love and War…and Wellness

Staff Participates in Screening Day Sponsored by Medial Mutual

All is Well with Mr Jason Branch

Prior to the holidays, Medical Mutual of Ohio put on their annual free health and wellness fair for the benefit of the West Geauga Employees. This wellness fair provided a lot more for the staff than flu shots, though. Through a variety of vendors and separate screening stations, information was recorded to help keep track of an individual’s “lab” numbers in various categories throughout the years. This can help the staff remain aware of what they can “work on” until their next check- up and provide them with weight control and exercise ideas for their specific health situation. English teacher Mrs. Cindy O’Janpa participated by receiving a flu and, in addition, said, “I was so reassured to find out my BMI (Body Mass Index)is quite low. It is one test I scored well on and was very pleased about.”

This fair was held in the high school library throughout the day, so whenever it was convenient for the staff, the members could drop in. The account manager, Mrs. Brown, said that Medical Mutual provided food for the staff from Farmer In The Deli in Chesterland. The West Geauga organizer, Mrs. Diane Martin from the board office, said, “Our Wellness fair was a big success and we hope to see even more of [the staff] next year !”

The staff could participate in a contest drawing for gift cards for various healthy food places as well as the West Geauga Spirit Shop. The health fair started last year and because of its success, will continue to provide these services for the staff for years to come.

Everyone who participated in the Biometric Screening  received a $20.00 gift card to the Spirit shop and a chance to enter the drawing for the Sonicare Electric toothbrush. Thanks to all who participated and see you next year !
